"Between the River" collaborative print release and closing show

We worked with artists Adam Young and Aaron Michalovic on a collaborative print in commemoration of their closing show. The print was a mixture of relief print method and hand drawing, turned into a screenprint.

Stop by the shop to pick up a print during open hours or buy one online here.

Afterwards, we invited our friends over to celebrate the print release and we tore down and burned the on-site installation in our parking lot.

Slow down for a bit

We’re taking some time to clean up the shop and make some modifications to our space. In the meantime, here are a few udpates.

WILL GAYNOR PRINT

We recently collaborated with artist Will Gaynor on a print for his upcoming show “Walking Down the Road Feeling Really Fucking Bad.” Check it out at Yellow Jacket social club for the month of May.

Prints will be available at the show or in our shop.

LANCE MCMAHAN SHOW

Stay tuned to the Facebook page for a date for the closing of Lance’s show in June. We’ll be taking a break from art programming this summer to focus on making some new artwork for the shop, but will have some news about what’s going on along the way.

SHOP UDPATES

attention

This month, we’re taking it easy at the shop. Josh and Abi are heading out for some much needed rest and relaxation and we’re booked up for production while they are gone. While there will be some weekend shop hours, we’ll be CLOSED on the weekends until June.

Thanks for understanding, we’ll see you in the summer.

2015 Calendar

Caitlin B Alexander, CBAIllustration, Caitlin Alexander, 2015 calendar, calendar, screen print, four seasons, illustration
We’re so very happy with how this project came out. 12″x19″ 2015 calendar, split into four seasonal three-color screen prints on French Paper. Signed and numbered in an edition of 50. After calendar use, trim each print down to an easily frame-able 12″x12″ art print. Lovely illustrations of flora and fauna by our own Caitlin B Alexander. Bound with brass screw posts, backed with chipboard, and hang-ready. $50. Shipping is $10 – please call the shop if you’d like to pick one up locally.
Four signed and numbered 3-color art prints for about 13 bucks apiece is NOT A BAD DEAL, Y’ALL.

FELIZ – A pop up sale

We were excited to work with FELIZ on printing up some invites for their third year hosting a pop-up sale. We’ll be participating this year with a bunch of rad goods and prints for you to buy.

ABOUT FELIZ:

Ringing in its third year, FELIZ is primed for its best year yet. We pride ourselves on bringing together a careful selection of independent designers, makers, and artists for a one-day sale like no other. FELIZ is an opportunity for Austin’s creative community to unite in a fun, inspiring and laid-back setting, meet artisans from around the country and shop their wares directly.

FELIZ 2014 will take place Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the beautiful Palm Door in Austin, TX.

Come out and do some early holiday shopping and see all the great makers this event brings together.

Heading Out

Abi and Josh are on their way to the Chinati Foundation in Marfa to host a workshop all about screen printing. For two-days, the two will guide participants through exercises that will use non-digital methods and mark making to form visuals.

Then, the group will learn how to burn and print and edition of their own works.

The shop will be closed on Saturdays in September.

Stay tuned for more information on the rest of this year as we’ll be lining up a slew of events to finish out 2014. Thanks for reading!

((Public Hi-Fi)) – Dana Falconberry & Sondre Lerche

Here’s a really great project we had a little hand in. We’ve printed the 12″ inserts for the first two releases of the Public Hi-Fi Sessions single series. The first, with Sondre Lerche, came out late last year. They’ll be releasing the second, with Dana Falconberry, on April 19th (Record Store Day!). Pitchfork just reviewed her song “Palmless” from side A, go here for the writeup with streaming audio. It’s a great track, well-worth a listen. We’re looking forward to hearing the other side.

Public Hi-Fi, Jim Eno and Brad Bell’s recording studio/record label, will be releasing three of these Single Sessions per year. This most recent release features artwork from one of Dana Falconberry’s linoleum block prints, with some collaboration from Philip Neimeyer. Blue-black ink over a heavy lay of silver.

That heavy lay of silver offset onto the back of the screen when we printed the second color, which looked kind of eerie and rad.

Philip Niemeyer himself is worth checking out – a prolific and inspiring designer/artist/filmmaker who recently relocated back to Austin from Brooklyn. He regularly curates excellent art shows at his design consultancy Northern Southern.

* EDITED * The Sondre Lerche insert designed by Alyce Waxman also featured some rich metallic ink – two-color black and gold print. We originally attributed this design to Phillip, but turns out he did the production. We love the final product very much.

Been a pleasure working with these folks, can’t wait to see what they put out next.
